- CostWorks 99
-
- This readme file contains information not included in, or added after the
- printing of the CostWorks documentation.
-
-
- Windows 3.1 Users:
-
- When using Windows 3.1, CostWorks does not change the file extension of your
- exported CostList to WKS or TXT when you select the Export option in CostList.
- You must manually change the name to include the WKS extension when you select
- the Generic Spreadsheet File option or the TXT extension when you select the
- ASCII option in the Export CostList.
-
- When printing the CostList, Windows 3.1 will default to Windows Notepad or to
- the program you have associated with TXT files. You can then print from
- Notepad or the program you are in.
-
- When using Windows 3.1 you do not have the option to Automatically Search for
- Releases from the Settings Screen. You must use the Manual Search to find
- COSTDATA.ID. COSTDATA.ID is located in your COST1999 directory.
- During a typical installation, the default is C:\CostWork\Cost1999.
- For a Compact installation, the directory is x:\Cost1999 where x is your CD
- drive letter.
-
- Windows NT, Windows 95 or 98:
-
- COSTDATA.ID is located in your COST1999 directory. During a typical
- installation, the default is C:\Program Files\CostWork\Cost1999.
- For a Compact installation, the directory is x:\Cost1999 where x is your CD
- drive letter.
-
- All Users:
-
- When you Export your CostList to your spreadsheet, remember that each column
- in the spreadsheet is multiplied by the quantity. Removing a column or
- changing the prices in a column will not change the total column.
- Also changing the prices will not update the O&P column.
- R.S. Means adds 10% to material, 10% to equipment and then marks up labor the
- appropriate amount for each trade to come up with the O&P total.
- You can find the labor mark-up on the inside back cover of the R.S. Means Cost
- Books.
